Camping on Hadrian's Wall
Welcome to a 21st century Lodge and Camping Site
Our site opened in the summer of 2010. Ideally located close
to the Hadrian’s Wall trails (walking and cycling) and
the beautiful Solway coast, we have facilities catering for
all visitors to the area. We are situated between the villages
of Monkhill and Beaumont - 4 miles from Carlisle and 9 miles
from the start/end of the trail at Bowness on Solway.
Both the Hadrian’s Wall Path and Sustrans
Cycle Route 72 are 400 yards from our site. Although
the wall itself is not visible between Carlisle and Bowness,
the stones and artefacts still exist in various churches and
old buildings in the area. The Northern Lake District (Penrith
and Keswick) is within a 40 minute drive with the M6 being
approximately a 10 minute drive.
We welcome all those people looking for accommodation with
a modern attitude towards outdoor living - particularly walkers
and cyclists. We have the award-winning designs in self-catering
accommodation and camping cabins:
The cabin is fully equipped for up to four people with
a dining room/lounge/kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. The
cabin is fully heated and has TV. Please note that we
only have one of these cabins on site, and we do not allow
dogs in this cabin.
These are cabins for those who want a little more comfort
than traditional camping. They are equipped with a sleeping
and seating area, heating and lighting, TV and some cooking
We have a flat grassed area for tents.
Please note that all of our cabins are ‘no-smoking’.
There is a washing-up area with both hot and cold water, communal
room/lounge, reading room including a small library and exhibition,
and drying facilities There are facilities to wash and store
your cycles, and fire pits and barbecues are available on-site
on a first-come-first-served basis.
If you are fed up (as we are) with poor quality communal
toilets and showers, we have high quality self-contained bathrooms
for campers and cabin users.
We can provide breakfast snacks and packed lunches on site
- booking advisable when possible. Well-behaved dogs are welcome
on our site but we do not allow dogs to stay in the en-suite
cabin or to come into the services cabin.
The Drovers Rest pub and restaurant (offering great food,
beer and company) is in Monkhill - 300 yards from our site
their Facebook page. We strongly encourage people to book
meals in advance as this can be a very busy pub - tel: 01228
